Officials: Brooklyn Playground Has Become A Hot Spot For Prostitution

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Brooklyn playground has apparently become a haven for prostitution.

During the day, the Crispus Attucks Playground on Classon Avenue in Clinton Hill is teeming with parents and their young children.

However, every morning investigators are finding evidence of sex, despite the fact that the playground is gated at night, 1010 WINS' Steve Sandberg reported.

"In the morning there's condom wrappers that are lying around," Police Capt. Scott Henderson said.

On Monday, District Attorney Charles J. Hynes and City Councilwoman Letitia James announced a crackdown on hookers and johns, enforcing a zero-tolerance policy on prostitution.

"This is not a red-light district, this is a prostitution-free zone," James said. "Enough is enough, all eyes will be on you."

Local parents are disgusted by the news.

"I don't want him touching anything unsanitary," the mother of a 2-year-old boy said. "You never know what anyone can pick up."

The two local police precincts will be stepping up patrols in the area to reduce prostitution.
