Dixie Chicks Cofounder Emily Robison Welcomes New Baby Chick

It’s a girl! Emily Robison of the Dixie Chicks and the Court Yard Hounds gave birth to her very own little chick today, Violet Isabel Strayer.

The Dixie Chicks made the announcement on Facebook earlier today.

"Emily Robison and Martin Strayer are ecstatic to announce the birth of their new baby girl, Violet Isabel Strayer," the announcement reads. "Violet was born at 3:01am on September 4, 2012 weighing 8.5 lbs. Mom and baby Violet are doing well and Dad couldn't be happier!"

This is Robison’s fourth child, and her first with boyfriend Martin Strayer. Her three other children, Gus, 9, and twins Julian and Henry, 7, are with her ex-husband Charlie Robison.

Both Emily and her sister (and Dixie Chicks bandmate/cofounder) Martie Maguire have struggled in the past with conceiving, as portrayed in their song, “So Hard.” But now, both have several healthy children (Maguire has three daughters). Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines also has two sons. Needless to say, the mama Chicks have plenty of little chicks now.
