"I really wanted to talk primarily about myself this morning, and promote myself," Rep. Frank Pallone (D-Long Branch) said Tuesday morning to the New Jersey delegation. He was doing a riff on Christie's speech.

"I wanted to start out by telling you I don't take any crap cause I'm from the Jersey Shore," he continued. "And I talk about the Jersey Shore all the time because, you see, I have, singlehandedly, saved the Jersey Shore. In fact, when I see polluters and I see other people trying to pollute the Jersey Shore, I just tell them to 'Get the hell off the beach.'"

The usually reserved Pallone also had a joking message for reporters.

"And if you want to raise any other subject or ask me any other question I'm going to say that you're an idiot," he said.

The crowd seemed to eat all of it up, but Pallone admitted he's not sure what got into him.
