The victim was shaking and crying as she spoke in the Nassau County courtroom during the sentencing hearing, WCBS 880′s Sophia Hall reported.

She said that in the nearly three years since the sex assault, she wakes up in the middle of the night reliving what she called a horrific nightmare.

She said she thought she was going to die and then asked the judge to help her move on with her life, Hall reported.

The victim could be heard crying as she left the courthouse in Mineola, Hall reported.

Before she sentenced him, the judge said she wanted to make sure Barnes would never be outside of prison.
