NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Tri-State residents don’t have to go far to find the best sandwich in the country.

Students at Rutger’s University have known this for years. Former Scarlet Knight Darrell Butler has created a monster of a sammy – and it’s not only a top seller on campus, but has received national recognition, named one of the best sandwiches in the United States by outlets like USA Today.

The “Fat Darrell” features ingredients that may scare the calorie conscious eater: Chicken nuggets, mozzarella sticks and french fries. The fried food concoction has also gotten the attention of Sports Illustrated and even Paula Deen.

He got our attention, as well. Butler appeared on The Couch to show us how he makes the infamous sandwich.
