NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals, in partnership with the Petco Foundation, is holding an “Adoptapalooza” pet adoption event on Sunday in Union Square Park.

More than 200 dogs and cats will be available from more than 30 rescue organizations.  Pet owners can also get their animal microchipped for $25, with on-site dog licensing available and representatives from the New York City Office of Emergency Management on hand to answer questions about emergency preparedness for your pet.

Check out video from the May 2012 Adoptapalooza in Washington Square Park featuring 1010 WINS News Anchor Susan Richard:

There will be a special skateboarding performance by Wally from Animal Planet’s “Who Let the Dogs Out”, plus sessions for you and your dog with a certified dog trainer from Petco.

In addition, get free merchandise and information from featured Adoptapalooza vendors, including Blue Buffalo, Freshpet, Merrick, Natural Balance, SafetyGlo, and Wellness.

Plus, “Rock & Rawhide” will be collecting clean blankets, sheets and pet toys to distribute to animal shelters.

The event is taking place from noon to 5 p.m., rain or shine. Click HERE for more info.
