After recording 5 tackles (3 solo) in the Jets 48-28 win over the Bills, Bart Scott declared a ‘media mutiny,’ citing the poor treatment he believes the Jets have received leading up to Week 1. Needless to say, Craig got a real kick out Scott’s comments. Before the game, if you were watching ‘The NFL Today’ (and I know you were), then you probably saw Boomer interview Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez, during which he played a little word association, which showed up on Craig’s radar.
From there it was onto Jerry Recco, who delivered a mistake-riddled update, beginning with the Jets on this ‘Green Monday’ as Craig tagged it. Rex Ryan was not surprised at all by his team’s performance, while Sanchez was talking about one big happy family.
After finishing with the Jets, Jerry recapped the rest of the scores (to the best of his ability), including Peyton Manning’s much-anticipated return, that saw him throw his 400th career TD pass in the Broncos 31-19 win over the Steelers. Despite their 34-13 loss to the Patriots, Boomer still believes the Titans will make the playoffs.
Plus, Yanks beat down the the Orioles 13-3 to regain a 1 game lead over those same O’s in the ultra-competitive AL East (Rays are 2 games back). On Saturday night, the Yanks lost Mark Teixeira for the foreseeable future to a calf injury, which he suffered while attempting to slide into 1st base. Teixeira will have an MRI later today, but according to Craig, we’re not likely to see him back on the field until October at the earliest. The Mets paid tribute to Chipper Jones over the weekend at Citi Field and the Braves finished things off yesterday afternoon by completing the sweep with a 3-2 win…
