GOSHEN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – A woman has died after the car she was riding in collided with a state police cruiser in Goshen, N.Y., police said.

Police said 70-year-old Robert Palladino of New Hampton turned into the path of the state police cruiser at about 8 p.m. Friday night. 71-year-old passenger Josephine Palladino was pronounced dead at the scene.

Robert Palladino suffered a head injury and was taken to Westchester Medical Center.

State Police Troop Scott Bauman suffered a broken ankle in the accident.

A preliminary investigation found that Palladino’s failure to yield to the police cruiser caused the fatal crash, police said.
