NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — Lindsay Lohan was arrested in New York City early Wednesday morning after police said she clipped a pedestrian with her car and did not stop.

The alleged incident happened outside the Dream Hotel on 16th Street in Chelsea.

1010 WINS’ Juliet Papa reports

Lohan was driving a black Porsche slowly in an alley between the Dream Hotel and the Maritime Hotel when she hit a 34-year-old man, police said.

The man, identified as Jose Rodriguez, called 911. He sustained a knee injury and was taken to the hospital, police said.

Rodriguez, an employee at the nearby restaurant Bottega, told police he’d been hit by the vehicle Lohan was driving, CBS 2’s Jessica Schneider reported.

Police said the 26-year-old starlet kept driving into an alleyway, went into the Dream Hotel’s exclusive club “Electric Room” and when she came out around 2:30 a.m., they arrested her.

Lohan has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing an injury. She was brought to the 10th Precinct.  She was given a desk appearance ticket. Her court date is set for Oct. 23.

Police said Lohan didn’t show signs of slurred speech or bloodshot eyes and said no Breathalyzer test was given.

The man who claimed he was clipped by Lohan’s posh ride lives in Jersey City.  He wasn’t at his apartment all day, but cops said he was treated at a local hospital and released.

WCBS 880’s Irene Cornell reports

The actress is under an informal probation for taking a necklace last year without permission from a jewelry store. She is not required to check in with a probation officer or judge, but could face jail time if re-arrested.

The court will have to determine what exactly the conditions of Lohan’s probation are and whether or not the latest incident affects it.

Lohan’s publicist, Steve Honig, said he expects the actress to be cleared of wrongdoing after her arrest and that the incident appears to be “much ado about nothing.”

Honig also said claims that Lohan struck a pedestrian and didn’t stop will be proven false. Lohan has also released a statement denying the charges.
