Jerry Recco began his update with a recap of the Yankees’ impressive, double-dip sweep of the Blue Jays. Andy Pettitte made his return for Game 1 and pitched well enough to earn the victory. In the nightcap it was David Phelps who was dealing, as the Bombers held on for a 2-1 win.
Craig got a kick out of hearing ‘Lady Marmalade’ bellow through the Yankee stadium PA system after Ichiro collected his 7th hit of the day – we wonder where in the world they where they got that idea?
Ichiro’s teammate, Nick Swisher, was clearly excited about his teammate’s success.
Unfortunately for the Yanks, it doesn’t appear that the Orioles are going anywhere, as they won another extra-inning affair with the Mariners, outlasting the M’s 3-1 in 11 innings, which kept them just 1/2 game behind the Yankees. On a side note, Craig is not a fan of Baltimore play-by-play man Joe Angel.
