NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - It hasn’t been a safe summer for women across the city.

Several high profile attacks, including the rape of an elderly birdwatcher in Central Park and, just this weekend, a rape in Hudson River Park, have forced local leaders to focus on safety in the streets.
