Santonio Holmes Injured In Loss To 49ers

NEW YORK (AP) — New York Jets receiver Santonio Holmes had to be helped from the field Sunday after hurting his left foot on the first play of the fourth quarter against San Francisco.

The Jets said after the game that Holmes was being treated for a foot problem, not a knee injury as was announced during the game.

Holmes went down after catching a short pass, which he fumbled, with Carlos Rogers returning it 51 yards for a touchdown. Trainers helped him off and he was not putting any weight on the leg, then Holmes was carted to the locker room.

Earlier Sunday, the Jets lost tight end Dedrick Epps to a right knee injury and fullback John Conner to a hamstring problem.

Holmes had four catches for 29 yards in the Jets' 34-0 loss to the 49ers.
