Holmes' Diagnosis Unclear, X-Rays Negative

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Rex Ryan is still awaiting a diagnosis on Santonio Holmes' injured foot.

Ryan believes Holmes will miss a number of weeks, but isn't sure how long the Jets will be without their number one receiver.  The Jets' head coach told the Daily News that he's "not sure how many weeks (Holmes) is going to be out."

He was unsure which kind of injury Holmes suffered, but confirmed x-rays were negative.

Holmes went down injured after catching a pass to open the fourth quarter and went to ground without contact.  He allowed the ball to leave his hands as Carlos Rogers of the San Francisco 49ers grabbed the loose ball for a 51-yard touchdown.

He was carted off the field and taken to the x-ray room.

Team physicians are still determining whether Holmes suffered muscle damage or ligament damage in his foot.
