New Jersey Woman, Man Charged In Extortion Plot Of Former Co-Worker

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A New Jersey woman is under arrest after she tried to blackmail a former co-worker with whom she was having an affair, prosecutors said Tuesday.

Sarah McAllister, 26, of Ridgefield, and John Diciancia, of Lodi, were arrested Monday in Little Ferry, N.J..

According to authorities, Sarah McAllister, 26, was in a relationship with a male co-worker. The relationship continued after she left the company, police said.

McAllister soon began demanding money from the victim in return for her keeping quite about the relationship, authorities said.

McAllister would demand money electronically and in person, police said. When the demands for cash escalated and started to involve an accomplice, John Diciancia, prosecutors said the victim notified authorities.

On Monday, McAllister and Diciancia were arrested in a motel parking lot in Little Ferry where they were planning to meet the victim to collect cash, police said.

McAllister has been charged with one count of extortion in the second-degree and one count of stalking in the third-degree.

Diciancia was charged with extortion in the second-degree.

Bail was set at $50,000. McAllister and Diciancia were held in the Bergen County jail in lieu of bail.
