They had right first and last name, but the wrong man.

Anthony Michael Sabino, an attorney based in Mineola, was notified that he had been appointed to the Long Island Regional Planning Council by the Nassau County Executive's office.

Upon that notification, he followed the procedure to a Legislative meeting for final approval.

But it turns out, he was the wrong Sabino.

The right one was attorney Anthony J. Sabino of Bethpage.

"I really didn't know what to think, I was assuming I was supposed to be appointed but I thought I might've been mistaken," Sabino told 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera. "It's an honest mistake with two people with the same names, it can happen."

How the embarrassing mix-up occurred still isn't known and the County Executive's office isn't eager to talk about it.

Sabino said he expects the snafu will be corrected and his appointment finally confirmed.
