Police: Two Suspects Scammed 74-Year-Old Woman In The Bronx
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police in the Bronx are looking for two female suspects who allegedly scammed an elderly woman out of thousands of dollars.
The 74-year-old victim, who asked not to be identified, told 1010 WINS’ Carol D’Auria that the two women approached her last Wednesday around 10 a.m. near East Tremont Avenue.
The suspects then showed her a bag full of money that they claimed to have just found, the victim said.

The two con artists offered to give the victim $50,000 if she gave them some of her money temporarily as a show of good faith, D’Auria reported.
The victim ended up giving the two suspects her life savings, totaling $23,500.
“I was thinking what I would do with the money, not thinking of what they were doing to me,” the victim said.
When it came time to get her money back, the con artists drove away in a grey four-door sedan and left the victim standing on the sidewalk empty-handed, D’Auria reported.
The elderly victim said she felt like she had been hypnotized and trusted the suspects because they were well-dressed and well-spoken.
“They looked respectful, they looked professional,” the victim said.
Police said both of the suspects were wearing a black dress jacket and black slacks.
“They should rot in jail,” the victim said.
