NEW MILFORD, NJ (CBSNewYork) — Police in New Jersey are investigating calls about another luring attempt, in New Milford.

On Saturday a 12-year-old girl was approached in the parking lot of a Dunkin Donuts on River Road. A man asked her “if she wanted to go with him” according to New Milford Police Chief Frank Papapietro.

1010 WINS Reporter Gary Baumgarten spoke with authorities…

The girl fled in search of her mother and the man took off on foot.

The Dunkin Donuts incident was the fourth attempted luring in New Milford in the three days, according to police.

A possible luring was reported in Englewood but police believe that it was a false alarm.

The latest incident in New Milford is part of a rash of attempted child lurings that have taken place in Northern New Jersey. Additional incidents have occurred in Hawthorne, Maywood, Fair Lawn, Oradell, Ridgewood, Washington Township, and Hackensack.

County and local authorities have stepped up patrols in response to the latest incidents.
