NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – How’s this for a great idea for a television show?
Send one guy across the country to the homes of grandparents everywhere, and get them to cook for you – a total stranger – their favorite family recipes.

Comedian Mo Rocca sold that pitch and now the show, “My Grandmother’s Ravioli,” is debuting Wednesday night on The Cooking Channel.
“My grandmother was a fantastic cook, she made these gargantuan Sunday meals, and her ravioli was amazing,” Rocca said. “If I had a time machine, I would go back 30 years and show up at her apartment, at least half an hour early, and help her and learn something.”
The regret (or guilt, as Rocca called it) inspired him to do the show.
“She just put her heart and her soul into cooking, and I’mm doing the next best thing to learning from her, I’m learning from everyone else’s grandparents.”
The show airs at 8:30 p.m. on The Cooking Channel.
