Hurricane Sandy Doesn't Halt NYC's Dining Scene, Many Restaurants Still Open & Delivering

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It's no secret New Yorkers love their take-out food.

In the city that never sleeps -- or stops -- it would take more than a hurricane to keep the restaurant's lively dining and delivery scene from shutting down.

Residents can find restaurants delivering food in their neighborhood by checking out Seamless.com.

The Internet food delivery service is updating their blog with information on establishments that are still operating and offering delivery options to those that are waiting out the storm in the New York City area.

Additionally, many city restaurants and bars are open and welcoming patrons for dinner and drinks during the storm. But we're not encouraging anyone to head outside.

As Mayor Bloomberg said, "Conditions are deteriorating very rapidly and the window for you getting out safely is closing."

Even so, restaurants up and down Manhattan are offering New Yorkers  refuge from the storm. Some bars are offering hurricane drink specials (in Long Island City, the Studio Square Beer Garden is hosting a hurricane party at the sprawling Astoria bar -- with two-for-one drinks until closing time).

Like we said, we suggest staying indoors. If you do order food, please remember to tip the delivery folks extra generously today!
