Dogs Found Stuffed In Duffel Bag Up For Adoption

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Two West Highland white terriers found in a duffel bag next to garbage cans in the Bronx have made a remarkable recovery and are now ready to be adopted.

Fred and Ginger were brought to Animal Care & Control of New York City after they were found in September on Commonwealth Avenue between Bronx River Avenue and Mansion Street.

The two pooches were spotted by a Bronx man who called the cops. They were very dehydrated, anemic, emaciated and couldn't stand. They both had pressure sores and were covered in maggots.

"AC&C is working with the Bronx DA's office to try to find out who is responsible for this," Julie Bank, Executive Director of AC&C said.
