Reports: Mets Pick Up 2013 Options On Dickey, Wright

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Mets have picked up the 2013 options for David Wright and R.A. Dickey as the team continues to work on contract extensions for the two stars, according to multiple reports.

Wright will make $16 million next season while Dickey is slated to earn $5 million.

But Mets fans hope those those final-year salaries will be replaced by the time the All-Stars report to spring training.

Wright's representatives are "in negotiations on a long-term deal" that would keep him in New York, CBSSports.com and WFAN baseball insider Jon Heyman reported on Tuesday. But by many accounts, those talks have been moving slowly.

The New York Daily News reported last week that Mets brass had to discuss compensation — dollars or years — with Dickey or Wright and were "still talking about when to really get talking."

The Mets were expected to kick things off with an offer around $100 million to Wright, Heyman reported earlier this month.

Are you surprised the Mets haven't locked up Dickey and Wright to new deals yet? Be heard in the comments below...
