The center includes a Red Cross Food and Drink Distribution Center and a free mobile laundry facility.

"My insurance company gave me blankets and a bear to keep me company, the Red Cross gave me meals, flashlights, a blanket and water," Sue Emanatian, of South Bellmore, told 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera.

Representatives from several of the nation's largest insurance companies are offering residents advice on how to file an insurance claim for property damage from Sandy.

FEMA representatives are also on hand to help people register for disaster aid and housing and rental assistance.
