Police: Men Were Targeted In Newark Double Homicide

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Police Monday were investigating a shooting that left two men dead in Newark, N.J.

Investigators believe the victims were targeted.

The shootings happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of South 17th Street, police said. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene shortly afterward.

One of the victims was identified as Tremayne Roberts, 26, of Newark. An identity for the second victim was not available Monday afternoon.

The victims were discovered by Newark patrol officers, police said.

Detectives continued to investigate the shooting Monday afternoon, according to police and prosecutors. Further details were not available.
