Police Search For Suspect Who Raped Woman In Williamsburg Apartment

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were searching Wednesday night for a man who followed a woman into her apartment in the trendy Williamsburg section of Brooklyn and raped her.

Police said the rape happened around 5:45 a.m. this past Saturday. The police account did not specify where in Williamsburg the rape happened, but the New York Post reported the woman's apartment was on Kent Avenue, the westernmost street in the neighborhood near the East River.

The man followed the 23-year-old woman into her apartment, where he forcibly raped her, police said.

The suspect is described as a black male standing about 6 feet tall and weighing about 190 pounds. In a surveillance clip, he is seen wearing a white hooded shirt with black stripes, white headphones a white baseball cap, and carrying a blue and black backpack.

Police have released a the surveillance video of the assailant.
