Construction Crane Topples Over In Midtown; Officials Probe Cause

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Authorities are investigating what led to a close call in Midtown on Monday morning.

A construction crane, which was on a flatbed truck, toppled over along with the truck.

The incident happened at 438 W. 38th Street at Dyer Avenue, near the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel around 8:45 a.m.

Investigators said the arm of the crane slammed into another flatbed truck and then tipped over 38th Street.

One report indicated that the crane was lifting air-conditioning units, which may have caused it to collapse.
