NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Eli Manning joined Mike Francesa a day after the Giants dominated the Packers on Monday night.
Manning recaptured his brilliant play as he threw for three touchdown passes as the Giants went on to rout the Packers 38-10.
“We ran the ball really well, threw the ball and guys made some big plays. We knew what to expect going into the game and we executed very well,” Manning told Francesa on Monday.
Francesa pointed out that the Giants struck a perfect balance on offense and Manning agreed.
“We had a good balance, we were able to throw it well on first down and get good yardage,” Manning said of the Giants’ offense.
Manning felt the Giants’ receivers did what was expected of them on Sunday and stated the importance of getting Rueben Randle involved.
“It’s important to get your play-makers making plays and doing their job,” he explained. “We got Rueben Randle into the mix a little bit. We need some of these young guys.”
The Giants will on lean on David Wilson after Andre Brown’s season came to an end due to a broken fibula.
“We’re going to have to get David Wilson going,” Manning said. “He got a number of carries last night in the fourth quarter. We got him some reps because we’re going to need him to play for us down the stretch.”
The Giants received a special visit from 15-year-old Adam Merchant from Barre, Vt. The Make-A-Wish boy delivered an inspirational speech to the Giants at Friday’s practice.
“The whole team always rallies around these kids. This is their wish,” Manning stated.
He continued, “He knew exactly what he wanted to say. It got the team fired-up. I’m glad we were able to give him that wish and give him something special to remember.”
Francesa asked Manning about Hurricane Sandy impacting the Giants.
“We had a number of guys who were directly impacted,” Manning responded. “They didn’t lose their homes, but when you’re without power for 8 or 9 days — it affects what’s going on in your daily life.”
Manning said the hurricane wasn’t a distraction for the Giants.
“I thought we dealt with it well. We didn’t make it a distraction. It didn’t cause people to miss meetings. It had a little impact where it affected us,” he said.
Manning previewed the Giants’ match-up with the Redskins in Washington that will take place next Monday night.
“They’re a hot team,” Manning said of the Redskins. “They’re playing very, very well. Their defense has played outstanding, getting turnovers and making plays and their offense has scored a lot of touchdowns.”
Eli views the Monday night game as another crucial game for the Giants.
“It will be a great atmosphere Monday night and it’s a huge game for us. (It) gives us a chance to build a little bit more of a lead in the division for us,” he stated.
