NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A 37-year-old man was killed Friday in a motorcycle crash in southern Brooklyn.

Around 7:06 p.m. Friday, police responded to an accident at 65th Street and 13th Avenue – on the cusp of the Dyker Heights and Borough Park sections of Brooklyn.

Hector Rivera, of the 500 block of Delafield Avenue in Staten Island, was heading east on 65th Street and tried to make a left turn onto 13th Avenue when he slammed into a sport-utility vehicle and was pinned underneath, police said.

Paramedics responded and took Rivera to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the SUV was not injured, and criminality was not suspected.
