Police Searching For Burglary Suspect Who Hit 6 West Village Businesses

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Police have released surveillance video of a man they say is wanted in connection to six burglaries.

The burglaries all happened during off hours at restaurants and a clothing store in the West Village since Nov. 12, according to police.

The man used a brick to break the front glass doors to gain access to all six businesses, police said.

The burglar struck the following businesses:

• Grand Sichuan Restaurant, 15 Seventh Ave. South, where he took cash from the register and a container, and a laptop computer, at 9 a.m. Nov. 12;

• Barrio Restaurant, 47 8th Ave., where he took cash from the register at 12:53 a.m. Nov. 20;

• Saturdays Surf NYC clothing store, 17 Perry St., where he took cash at 1 a.m. Nov. 20;

• Leyla Restaurant, 84 Seventh Ave. South, where he took cash at 1:25 a.m. Nov. 20;

• Moustache Restaurant, 90 Bedford St., where he took cash at 11:30 p.m. Nov. 25;

• Diablo Royale Restaurant, 189 W. 10th St., where he took cash and three iPods at 1:25 a.m. Nov. 28.

The suspect has been described as a black man between 28 and 35 years old and 225 to 275 pounds with a large build. He was last seen wearing light-colored clothing and was carrying a book bag.
