After watching his starting signal caller complete just 10 of 21 passes for 97 yards and three interceptions, Rex Ryan decided it was time to make a change – and that change emerged in the form of second-year quarterback Greg McElroy.
McElroy replaced the struggling Sanchez in the third quarter, then proceeded to lead the Jets to their only score of the game, as Rex’s Gang Green managed to beat the Cardinals 7-6, ‘improving’ to 5-7 on the season – just two games out of the playoffs – and everyone is miserable after a home win.
Boomer & Craig opened up today’s radio program talking about the circus that is the New York Jets, as a full-fledged quarterback controversy is now under way. The guys are in agreement that McElroy showed enough to earn the start Sunday against the Jags.
After being benched, Craig was a little concerned with how willing Sanchez was to grab a clipboard and begin taking notes after being benched in favor of McElroy. It was then that Craig noticed a confident and comfort in Sanchez that told him all he needs to know.
