NUTLEY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — A 20-year-old Nutley woman who was last seen in the parking lot of her college campus earlier this week has been found safe.

Police called the disappearance of Shamyra Rojas suspicious.

The volunteer EMT and bio-med student was last seen in the parking deck of the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark on Monday, police said.

Her family got word Wednesday Rojas was found in the company of her ex-boyfriend 18-year-old Ahmed Hassan Dar.

The two were found at the Princeton Junction train station.

Dar and Shamyra Rojas dated for about a year before her family confronted her, calling for an end to the relationship.

“It was an abusive relationship, we recommended her leaving, which she did, but he wouldn’t have that,” Shamyra’s brother Alfredo Rojas said. “He speaks of her as if she was his property, like he can do whatever he wants with her.”

Alfredo Rojas said Dar allegedly beat his sister within an inch of her life last week.

“He grabbed her foot and dragged her down a flight of stairs with her head bashing every step,” Alfredo Rojas said. “Once she was at the bottom of the stairs he started beating her face.”
