NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The first teaser trailer for what is sure to be one of next year’s biggest movies is now online for the world to see.
On Thursday morning, Trekkies (or Trekkers if you prefer) got their first real taste of “Star Trek Into Darkness,” the second film in the J.J. Abrams era of “Star Trek.”
The film will feature the return of Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto as Kirk and Spock, plus a villain played by Benedict Cumberbatch, who is the star of the BBC’s “Sherlock.”
You can watch it here:
The Japanese version contains several seconds of additional footage, which will be extremely interesting to the dedicated “Star Trek” fan.
Of course, fans who aren’t satisfied with a one-minute trailer can get another dose before the IMAX showings of “The Hobbit,” which will feature the first nine minutes of the film.
Earlier this week, the first poster was also released.
The film is due in theaters on May 17, 2013.
