Production Of 'The Golden Land' Coming Back To Manhattan

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A play focusing on the American Jewish experience will be back on stage later this month.

The National Yiddish Theatre's production of "The Golden Land" is coming to the Baruch Performing Arts Center in Manhattan.

The play focuses on the American Jewish experience, but an actress in the show said it's really a story about the immigrant in New York City.

"It basically tracks the Jewish immigrant experience from 1850 to 1947. It basically shows how this country and particularly the Lower East Side, has been a haven for immigrants who are willing to work hard and really make something of themselves," actress Daniella Rabbani told CBS 2's Cindy Hsu.

Two actors in the show stopped by CBS 2 to discuss the show and perform a song from the play.

They said the show is a great teaching tool for kids to learn about the immigrant life in New York.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Off Broadway production, according to the show's website.

The production will be at the Baruch Performing Arts Center from Dec. 20 to Jan. 6.
