Traffic Enforcement Agent, FDNY Employee Arrested In Separate Incidents

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A police traffic enforcement agent and an FDNY employee were arrested in separate incidents this weekend -- on drugs and weapons charges and for driving while intoxicated, respectively.

On Saturday, NYPD traffic enforcement agent Jannine Blake, 31, was arrested in the Fordham section of the Bronx and charged with two counts of criminal possession of marijuana, one count of unlawful possession of marijuana, and one count of criminal possession of a weapon.

Blake was busted along with her boyfriend, Karim Watkins, also 31, when police went to their apartment to execute a search warrant, according to a New York Post report. The responding officers found marijuana lying out in the open, and upon searching found two loaded weapons and more marijuana, the newspaper reported.

Watkins was also charged with drug and gun possession, the Post reported.

In an unrelated incident at 5:07 a.m. Sunday, Fire Department employee Carlos DaCosta, 34, was arrested in the 13th Precinct – which includes Gramercy Park, Stuyvesant Town, and parts of Chelsea. He was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Police did not release further details on the circumstance of DaCosta's arrest, and did not indicate whether he was a firefighter, a paramedic or a civilian employee of the FDNY.
