Jets Fan Who Tweeted Death Threats At Mark Sanchez: 'I Was Just Pissed Off'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Jets fan Bravee Grandcu made national headlines following Gang Green's loss to the Tennessee Titans on Monday night when he tweeted a series of death threats aimed at quarterback Mark Sanchez.

The 25-year-old fan, whose Twitter handle is @BraveGrancu, tweeted this disturbing message to Sanchez on Monday night: "KILL YO SELF TONIGHT! OR IMMA DO IT FOR YOU WEDNESDAY AT PRACTICE."

Grandcu wasn't finished -- not by a long shot. He proceeded to tweet, "DON'T COME TO PRACTICE WEDNESDAY I PROMISE YOU BULLETS EVERYWHERE."

To cap off his furious rant, the tweeter posted a picture of himself with a Jets hat on, and the sentence that accompanied the photo read, "TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT YOUR KILLER!!"

Grandcu's threats came just three days after the shooting massacre in Newtown, Conn., but the New York City resident didn't understand what the fuss was all about.

According to the New York Daily News, his anger stemmed from the fact that he lost a $700 bet on the game.

"I was just pissed off," Grandcu told the newspaper. "I lost $700 on the game. That's real money. I feel like Sanchez is doing all of these turnovers on purpose."

Sanchez had a brutal performance on Monday night as the Jets' playoff hopes came crashing down. The former first-round pick completed 13 of 28 passes for just 131 yards. He threw a third-quarter touchdown to Jeff Cumberland, but tossed four interceptions and fumbled the football. He was also sacked three times for 22 yards.

Grandcu insists that he never seriously considered harming Sanchez, and that he was just letting off steam.

"I don't own a gun," Grandcu said. "I was never going to shoot or kill anyone. I don't know why everyone's making such a big deal about the death threats. I guess it's just because he's Mark Sanchez and he's famous."

Ryan announced on Tuesday that backup quarterback Greg McElroy will supplant Sanchez as the starter when the Chargers visit MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

"I'm happy with that," Grandcu said.

Hmmmm, so he doesn't understand why people made a big deal about a death threat... Sound off with your thoughts and comments below.
