Suspect Wanted In Shooting That Killed Man In Newark
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Police have issued a warrant for a man wanted in a fatal shooting earlier this month in Newark, N.J.
Kajuan Murray, 21, of Newark was charged in a warrant with the murder of Tony Johnson, 27, also of Newark, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray and Newark police Director Samuel DeMaio announced Wednesday.
Around 4 p.m. Dec. 3, Newark police on a shots fired call found Johnson lying with gunshot wounds in the 300 block of Clinton Avenue, near Stratford Place. He had been shot while standing outside in a group.
He was pronounced dead around 4:30 p.m. that day, police said.
Murray was also charged in the warrant with two weapons violations. His bond was set at $1 million by Essex County Judge Carolyn E. Wright.
Anyone with information on Murray's whereabouts is asked to call the Essex County Prosecutor's office tips line at (877) 847-7432, or call 911. Police said Murray is considered armed and dangerous.
