NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Times Square is getting ready to ring in the new year.

A 7-foot-tall sign in the shape of the number “13” arrived in Times Square on Wednesday in preparation for the New Year’s Eve festivities.

It will be installed on Dec. 26 atop One Times Square to complete the “2013” sign that will light up when the ball drops on New Year’s Eve.

To quell the fears of superstitious revelers, the number will be surrounded by 13 good luck charms, including a four-leaf clover and a Buddha statue, to combat it’s unlucky reputation.
