You can purchase tickets now.

Jim Cameron of the Connecticut Rail Commuter Council says just make sure you can use them before they expire.

"The tickets are only valid for 60 days if it's a one-way ticket, or six months if it's a ten trip ticket. So if you don't think you're going to be able to use all those tickets before they expire, don't buy them or otherwise they'll become worthless," he told WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau.

Cameron says also adds that the ten trip tickets are valid for a number of passengers traveling together, and those tickets can provide a huge savings for a family of four, for example, going in and out of the city.

He said the cheapest way to get them is to buy online.
