A neighbor, Melissa, was just trying to go to work. But she couldn't get out the front door of her building.

"I was coming out the elevator and I saw a trail of blood, and then when I got to the front door I saw all the police tape. I didn't know what was going on, and then I came outside, I see all the cops, and from what I'm hearing, somebody got killed," she said.

Melissa said she slept through the shooting.

Granville lived in another building in Beach 40th Street, and Melissa said there have been issues between young residents of buildings in the area.

"I heard that there's a lot of problems with kids in this building and kids from the 40s," she said. "That's why I don't let my son out."

Sources with knowledge of the investigation told 1010 WINS the shooting was gang-related, and described Granville as a career criminal.

As of mid-morning Saturday, there were no arrests in the case.
