Report: At Least 6 Shot, 1 Fatally, In 24 Hours In Newark

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- At least six people were shot – and one of them was killed – between Thursday and Friday afternoon in Newark, N.J., according to a published report.

The first incident happened around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, when Ahmad Jackson, 20, was killed in a targeted shooting at Ashland Street and Orange Avenue, near a high school and a charter school, according to the Star-Ledger.

Two hours afterward, two teenage girls were shot and wounded on Market Street following a high school basketball game at Essex County College, the newspaper reported. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Two others were shot in the legs around 1:30 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of Chadwick Avenue, while another man was shot and wounded in the leg at Broad and South streets two hours later, the newspaper reported.
