NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - After being a New York City firefighter for 20 years, Robert Linhart was been convicted of resisting arrest after showing up twice outside Madonna’s apartment building.

He was carrying signs that proclaimed his undying love for the 54-year-old singer.

He had already been locked up twice for showing up outside her townhouse. He’s now been sentenced to three years probation, but is appealing.

He claims the jury believed police lies.

As for the object of his obsession, Linhart said Wednesday, “As far as Madonna, she advocates free speech. She did about the incident in Russia. However her security violated my free speech.”

The somewhat embittered 60-ish Linhart added that Madonna can just go on enjoying her life with her 24-year-old boyfriend.
