Police Search For Burglary Suspects In Wayne

WAYNE, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police in New Jersey have posted surveillance video on YouTube in hopes of finding a man and a woman who they say may be possible suspects in two home burglaries last month in Wayne.

Police believe the pair canvassed homes near Oxbow Place on Dec. 3 and Dec. 24.

The suspects would knock on doors to see if anyone was home. If someone answered, one suspect would ask permission to retrieve a football from the yard, Police Capt. Jim Clarke told The Record newspaper.

Clarke said they would attempt to break in if no one answered.

In both cases, police said the burglars got into the homes through an unlocked back window and stole jewelry.

Security video captured them at one of the homes. The homeowners then turned the video over to police.

"We are confident that these are the individuals who did the burglaries," Clark told the paper.

Police then posted the surveillance video on YouTube in hopes of developing leads.
