Gas Prices On The Rise In New Jersey

TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Motorists have been seeing higher prices at the pump in New Jersey lately.

AAA Mid-Atlantic said the average price of regular gasoline in New Jersey on Friday was $3.36, up 3 cents from last week. The figure is also higher than the price from a year ago, when motorists were paying $3.21.

Meanwhile, the national average price rose by 2 cents to $3.30. The figure is just a penny more than the national average from a year ago, when motorists were paying $3.29.

Analysts have said prices at the pump could rise following the recent resolution of the ``fiscal cliff.''

But even if that happens, prices would likely soon retreat due to weak demand and increased domestic crude oil production, analysts said.
