Puppy Rescued After Falling Through Ice In Bayport

BAYPORT (CBSNewYork) -- A puppy was rescued by Suffolk County police Monday morning after falling through some ice in Bayport.

Police were called to Homan Creek just before 8:30 a.m. by the pup's owner, Kevin Fitz, who said his 3-month-old Labrador named Simon was missing.

Officers noticed broken ice in the creek and followed it until they heard barking, police said. That's when they found the pup in the water under a dock.

Officers Daniel Coan and David Preller were able to break a piece of the dock and pull Simon out of the water.

The puppy was then reunited with his owner.
