3 Workers Injured When Scaffold Collapses In Kips Bay

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Three construction workers were hurt Tuesday after a ceiling collapse at a building in Kips Bay brought down their scaffolding.

The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the building at Lexington Avenue and 30th Street, which has been undergoing renovations.

Firefighters said hangers supporting a 20-by-20 section of a suspended ceiling gave way, coming down onto the scaffolding.

Two workers were seriously injured, and a third suffered minor injuries. The injured workers were taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital.
