Man Dies After Stabbing In Montclair, N.J.

MONTCLAIR, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A man has died after being stabbed in Montclair, N.J., and driving himself to the hospital early Sunday, only to collapse moments after he arrived.

Herbert Spriggs, 47, was apparently stabbed during some kind of domestic incident early Sunday, prosecutors said. The motive for the attack remained under investigation Sunday evening.

Essex County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Fennelly told the Star-Ledger of Newark that Spriggs arrived at the hospital around 4:45 a.m. and died about two hours later.

No other injuries were reported in the incident, but the newspaper said one person was in custody and was being questioned.

Further details on the stabbing and the investigation were not disclosed.
