Police: Man Sexually Assaulted, Robbed Woman At Lorimer Street Subway Station

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with an attack on the city's subway system over the weekend.

Around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, the suspect followed a 22-year-old woman as she was leaving the Lorimer Street "L" subway station, police said.

He sexually assaulted the victim on the stairs before fleeing with her cell phone, police said.

The suspect is believed to be in his 30s, approximately 5-feet-9-inches tall and between 180 and 190 pounds.

Police said he was last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and dark colored pants.

Authorities also released surveillance footage of the suspect late Wednesday afternoon.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
