Rap legend-icon Darryl McDaniels made a visit to the Allstate Studio on Tuesday morning to sit down with Boomer and Craig.

He talked about his life in the rap game and promoted the upcoming Garden of Dreams comedy event, ‘Garden of Laughs,’ on January 26.

McDaniels was of course part of one of the most influential groups of all-time — Run DMC.

He offered a unique and passionate take on the industry that he helped to build.  From idolizing O.J. Simpson as a kid, to working with Aerosmith, to being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Darryl covered just about everything.

Before saying goodbye, DMC offered a critique of Al Dukes (along with former WFAN intern Kevin) performing ‘It’s Tricky,’ calling it a ‘cute version.’  Then he cleared up any confusion one might have when comparing old-school rap vs. new-school rap.

I sure hope Jay-Z was listening…
