Man Wanted For Trying To Rob Woman At Gunpoint Inside West Village Apt. Building

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking for a man wanted in connection with an armed robbery attempt in the West Village.

A man followed a woman into her apartment building located near Thompson Street and West Houston Street on Monday, Jan. 21.

The man then followed her up to her apartment, pulled out a handgun and demanded money from her, police said.

The woman, 29, then began to scream, police said.  The suspect fled without getting any money.

The victim was not hurt in the robbery attempt.

The suspect is described as a White or Hispanic male, 30 to 40 years old, between 5'8"- 5'10" tall. He weighs approximately 160 to 180 pounds and was last seen wearing olive cargo pants, a black leather coat, white sneakers and a black knit cap.
