Man Killed In Fast-Moving Newark Fire

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A man was killed Saturday when a fast-moving fire roared through his home in Newark.

The man, whose identity had not been released as of Saturday afternoon, was pulled from the burning home at 55 Palm St. in Newark just before 10 a.m. Saturday, city fire officials said in published reports. The man was pronounced dead a short time afterward.

No other injuries were reported in the blaze at the two-story home, which was reported around 9:15 a.m. It was not immediately clear if anyone else lived in the residence.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Saturday afternoon.
