NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The husband and brother of a 33-year-old Staten Island woman missing in Turkey have decided to travel to Istanbul in hopes of finding her.

Missing Woman's Husband, Brother-In-Law Head To Turkey To Find Her

Sarai Sierra's husband, Steve Sierra, was at a loss Sunday to explain what happened.

During Sarai Sierra's trip to Istanbul, she Skyped her family and sent Instagram photos every day. But then suddenly last Monday, everything stopped.

Sarai Sierra was supposed to come home Tuesday aboard a United Airlines flight. Her husband waited at Newark-Liberty International Airport for hours, but she never showed up.

The woman's passport was found in her hotel, she was supposed to be home on Monday, her husband told 1010 WINS.

So now, the Staten Island husband and his wife's brother have decided to travel Istanbul to try desperately to find her.

"We're just hoping to work with the authorities, and do whatever it is we can to make it a quick and speedy recovery," Steve Sierra said.

Steve Sierra said this was the first time his wife had ever decided to travel alone, because she wanted to experience something out of the box.
